GUEST CRAFT ARTIST 2012

JENNY STOKES

Ceramic artist, Jenny Stokes, has been a practising ceramicist for a few decades after graduating with a Bachelor of Arts Ceramic Design. In awe of the creativity and skills of embroiders and crafters, in the mid 1990s she introduced them to a range of ceramic embellishments and buttons. She creates stunning contemporary ceramic pieces employing traditional ceramic techniques. Every piece is unique and handcrafted. Diversity of her creations means that a Jenny Stoke piece could be anything from a beautiful ceramic button, to a whimsical brooch, to a striking pendant through to functional home and garden wares. Attention to detail and quality of finish is indulged on every surface and from every angle.

"What I enjoy most about making my products is seeing my ideas take form and become real.  I draw my inspiration from everywhere. An important part of my work process is living with and contemplating the pieces until I am happy with them."

Jenny’s influences are inspired by life, from organic and botanical, to industrial, to Asian and Middle Eastern art and modern 20th century art and decor.

Her exquisite work can be found in various galleries throughout Victoria. Visit Jenny’s website to see some examples of her work – www.ceramicrelief.com.
